Position Summary

This position is located at the Butterball wastewater treatment plant. The primary responsibilities are operation and maintenance of the treatment plant. Work involves controlling the activity of the wastewater plant, maintenance, housekeeping, plant and parameter fogging, lights, plant Samples, assisting Facilities techs with projects, cleaning all probes and bubbler, validate all supplies are stocked, chemical studies, compliance with city, state, federal regulatory laws, and any other work assigned.

Essential Duties, Functions and responsibilities:

Process product using tools and equipment provided

Follows all work safety policies and guidelines

Observes equipment operation, notifying appropriate personnel of any malfunctions and /or safety issues/concerns

Adheres to all USDA and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) product standards and guidelines

Maintains a clean and organized area

Performs other duties as assigned

Accountable to maintain punctual and regular attendance for scheduled work hours

Reporting relationships, work assignments, and work schedules may be subject to change in order to meet Butterball’s needs or operational requirements

Maintain plant grounds PM’s that are assigned

Storm water and Spill prevention samples and compliance

Communicates with facilities manager to properly assist various government agency representatives to receive and provide technical information pertaining to wastewater treatment operations and related activities

Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to apply knowledge of troubleshooting skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Consults with facilities manager to establish work activities, formulate goals and objectives, review accomplishments, problems, etc., in order to insure effective operation

Assist in scheduling operator training to effectively perform their individual job duties

Maintain knowledge of the field of wastewater technology/treatment and governmental regulations and laws governing wastewater treatment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work in a fast paced environment

Ability to troubleshoot issues that occur on the machine

Ability to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions

Must be willing and able to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States

Must pass a background check, drug screen

Must be able to read and write

Need to be familiar in SPC, HACCP, GMP’S SSOP’S and USDA

Be familiar with ISO process and procedures

Attain a Wastewater Operator License- Basic Industrial

Knowledge of operations of wastewater treatment plant

Physical Requirements:

Frequent standing and walking (at least 8 hours per day)

Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling (up to and including 50lbs or more)

Reaching overhead

Reaching below knees

Ability to multitask

Completing required paperwork in timely manner

Working Conditions/Department Description:

Work in damp and cold environment as needed

Work with loud and noisy machinery as needed

Work in dusty environment when using spice as needed

Work in congested areas as needed

Work outside in all types of weather
