Job Summary:

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for managing brokers along with direct account interaction. This along with assisting in developing and nurturing strategic customer relationships that help drive consistent and sustainable volume growth, while achieving assigned company volume, net revenue, and profitability targets.

Essential Functions:

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Sales Plan volume, net revenue, and margin objectives. 
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with all customers in assigned region through face-to-face meetings and phone conversations.  Establish trust with various buyers.
  • Manage, lead, and motivate broker partners to achieve collaborative objectives/goals.
  • Schedule appointments to meet with various buyers/brokers.  Follow up on these appointments.
  • Establish relationships with & interact with Customer Service regarding orders and potential supply issues.  Resolve customer problems and issues.
  • Work with Business Development to develop account-specific trade plans that are consistent with the competitive environment and meet company net revenue & margin targets.
  • Research and develop creative sales presentations utilizing customer data, syndicated data, brand marketing data, etc. for use in customer meetings.
  • Identify opportunities and gain new distributions in accounts through store visits, meeting with brokers and meeting with customers.
  • Review account specific programs and pricing to ensure we remain competitive while maintaining Butterball, LLC’s desired volume and profit goals.
  • Obtain ad dates & estimated volumes from customers.  Submit SPCs for ad volume to Production Planners to ensure orders are filled completely and distressed product is minimized.
  • Keep on top of customer deductions.
  • Continuously update Sales Director on what our competitive activity in all Kroger markets.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Complete and submit weekly sales reports, expense reports and other various required trackers.
  • Submit and review monthly sales performance with customers and brokers to keep them informed on program progress.
  • Develop & maintain customer specific trade programs in Blacksmith/Forge, our Trade Promotion Management system.
  • Submit volume estimates (COB forms) for all new business, lost business, and volume changes.
  • Quarterly sales review with all major customers.
  • Attend sales meeting and trade shows to keep abreast of changes.
  • Utilize point of sales data to track results, make short term & long-term recommendations.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

  • Must have excellent relationship management and follow up skills.  It is imperative that the Sales Manager can deal with a wide array of people and personalities.
  • Candidate should understand the entire sales cycle in addition to industry knowledge.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to recognize and fill customer opportunities.  Must have knowledge of the products and the competition within a given category.
  • Understand of syndicated data (IRI or Nielsen) and fact-based selling is a must.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products, particularly Excel, Word & PowerPoint, is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to travel overnight as needed.

Education and Experience

  • This position requires a college degree.
  • Experience managing people is essential for managing broker relationships.

Working Conditions:

This position will be remote, and office will be working from home.  Sales Managers are required to travel on a regular basis to meet with customers and brokers.
