Job Description

This position will have the responsibility of managing the raw scheduling department in the planning and coordination of meat production and supply. Lead comprehensive scheduling processes that support internal retail products, further processing, intercompany supply, and outside sales of raw materials. Responsibilities include developing and supporting scheduling models, reporting tools, product reconciliation, and managing inventory levels of raw material. This role will be responsible for directing, managing, and rationalizing meat substitutions as well as lead continuous improvement initiatives with Lean and Six Sigma principles.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the plant production scheduling processes and evaluate master plans
  • Manage slaughter, debone, cut up, and retail production plant schedulers
  • Accountable for overall feasibility of live operations schedules that align with AOP projections
  • Coordinate with live operations on the execution of harvest and supply plans
  • Lead the development of scheduling models that create a flow of product that meets demand on a consistent basis
  • Identify, develop, implement, and document continuous improvements centered around product planning and production using industry wide best standard practices
  • Coordinate with planning managers to ensure raw material supply is available to support long range forecast
  • Responsible for metric reporting and analysis against predetermined goals
  • Work closely with R&D in the product development and commercialization processes
  • Attend plant leadership meetings to understand, production capacity, planning, shortages, order volumes, new products, rescheduling, data analysis, and project planning
  • Communicate daily with senior manager regarding scheduling, order fill rate, and inventory versus ship
  • Drive accuracy of data feeding to scheduling tools; system data, transactional data, standard, and demonstrated throughputs
  • Create and develop cross functional working relationships with key stakeholders, plant management, production management and general production staff
  • Implement and manage individual professional development plans for team members
  • Assist in the development and manage team and individual goals
  • Support adhoc projects as assigned or created

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to work collaboratively within high-performing teams
  • Strong change management, project management, and communication skills
  • Understand ERP and advanced planning systems, such as SAP, CAT^2, and JDA
  • Ability to influence decision making with multiple stakeholders across diverse teams
  • Proficiency using PC-based applications; Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and/or Access required
  • Strong programming and tool building skills using full Microsoft suite applications (Excel, Power Query, and Macros)
  • Proficiency using technology tools that enable production scheduling and reporting
  • Strong understanding of Lean and Six Sigma principles
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of marketing, product costing, production routings, R&D, and NPI processes

Education & Experience:

  • 5 or more years of experience in a management role
  • 10 or more years of work experience in a complex scheduling model environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, supply chain management, mathematics, or related field preferred
  • Supply chain/operations certification a plus; APICS, CPIM or Greenbelt preferred
  • Experience in problem solving techniques, analysis, determining root cause, and initiating improvements to prevent repeat occurrences
  • Experience working in poultry grow out and in a raw material manufacturing environment
