Job Summary:

Develop, administer, analyze, and ensure compliance with all Food Safety, HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points), requirements, policies, programs, and procedures. 

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, control, and prevent hazards at all stages of the food production process
  • Ensure quality control and efficient workflow of internal and external documentation
  • Review and verify paperwork for regulatory and internal compliance
  • Train team members in procedures, protocols, and quality steps
  • Resolve safety issues and identify root causes to recommend resolution
  • Follow up on corrective actions and help resolve problems
  • Provide support to operations pertaining to food safety related items
  • Confer with upper management on USDA/ HACCP/SSOP/ SPS issues

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read, analyze, and process HACCP documents
  • Ability to exchange thoughts and information with other people by speaking, listening, and using non-verbal cues
  • High level problem solver
  • High attention to detail to be able to conduct appropriate, accurate inspections of documentation
  • Ability to study and retain food safety standards, and be able to articulate those standards to a wide variety of individuals
  • Display good work ethic, resourcefulness, and organization
  • Understand the Standard Operating Procedures and Inspection Regulations
  • Understand HACCP Regulation and Plans
  • Understand NTIS
  • Previous knowledge using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be efficient and exhibit excellent data entry skills

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field is strongly preferred; previous experience in food safety is required in lieu of degree
  • Experience in food manufacturing desired
  • Must have successfully completed a HACCP certification course.
