Position Summary: 

The IT Business Intelligence Developer will provide functional and technical support for Butterball’s BI initiatives.  This position will be participating in all aspects of building and delivering end-to-end robust, strategic BI and Data Warehousing solutions that will transform data into critical information and knowledge that will, in turn, empower our business to reach its strategic goals. The successful candidate will have a proven technical skillset in identifying and building data warehouse and ETL solutions, data modeling, and delivering accurate and reliable reporting, analytic and dashboard solutions that are easily available to the business users.  Equally important will be the candidate’s ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization to define business requirements and determine priorities around building and maintaining a BI and Data Warehousing strategy that is right for Butterball.


  • Participate in the determination, recommendation, and implementation of corporate-wide Business Intelligence reporting platforms
  • Design, develop, implement, and fully document strategic business intelligence solutions that meet business requirements with performance, usability, and quality metrics in mind
  • Design and develop data warehouse and data management solutions based on strong understanding of sound database structure, database schema, data structures and algorithm concepts
  • Learn existing BI/ETL/Data architectures and solutions; provide support and maintenance for these solutions
  • Research business problems, recommend and create BI solutions that help users address these problems
  • Monitor, configure, tune BI solutions to ensure stable environment with acceptable performance
  • Develop detailed and thorough test plans
  • Execute rigorous testing to ensure robust, high quality BI solutions
  • Learn, understand, apply, and provide input to Butterball policies, procedures, standards and best practice guidelines for all areas of BI and data warehouse/management design
  • Work within the Butterball IT Management System to leverage the full support of IT, understand and utilize this system (project management, request management, project portfolio, service portfolio)
  • Collaborate effectively with systems and business analysts and other teams and business partners to define, document and implement project work
  • Effectively respond to service requests received from end users in a comprehensive and timely manner
  • Mentor other team members and train end users to work effectively with BI solutions to promote the transformation of data into actionable information
  • Participate in after-hours implementations, upgrades, troubleshooting, and/or on-call availability as needed
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and participate in escalations within a team environment
  • Utilize superior customer service skills to engage and collaborate with both internal and external resources
  • Participate in other activities necessary to support all departments and aspects of the Butterball business
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field
  • Minimum of 5 years of IT industry experience is required

Must have 5 years minimum experience with the following:

  • Designing and building data warehouses using a variety of proven, sound database design and architecture technologies and data structures (i.e., relational, columnar, unstructured)
  • Designing, building, and delivering organization-wide Business Intelligence solutions that include analytical and professional parameterized reports and dashboards using various table types, charts, key performance indicators, and metrics
  • Building BI solutions using MS SQL Server 2008 or higher SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, SSMS and T-SQL
  • Building BI solutions using Microsoft Power BI
  • Project Management experience with writing Functional & Technical specifications
  • Proficient in drafting flow diagrams using Visio

Experience with the following is desirable:

  • SAP BW and Enterprise BI platform tools is a plus – HANA, SLT, Data Services, Business Objects – Information Design Tool, Web Intelligence, Explorer, Dashboards, Crystal Reports
  • SAP ERP system
  • Project Management Methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and SDLC
  • Knowledge of building/delivering BI mobile applications
