JAY JANDRAIN :
Jay Jandrain, president and chief executive officer of Butterball, LLC, is responsible for leading business strategy for the world’s largest and most well-known turkey producer. Jandrain previously served as chief operating officer for Butterball, LLC, overseeing plant operations, corporate purchasing, transportation and warehousing, demand and supply planning, corporate engineering and research and development (R&D). Jandrain joined Butterball in May of 2002 as the director of R&D. He has since held roles including vice president of deli sales, vice president of R&D, vice president of integrated business strategy and executive vice president of sales.
Prior to Butterball, Jandrain held multiple sales, marketing and R&D management positions with companies such as Cargill and Plantation Foods. He received his Bachelor of Science in Food Science from Cornell University.
NEAL WALSH :
Neal Walsh, chief operating officer, has direct responsibility for company operations across Butterball’s six turkey processing facilities and all operational support functions. He focuses on executing Butterball’s strategic company priorities and long-range operations plan and is an executive champion in driving Butterball’s culture of continuous improvement.
He joined Butterball in 2007 and has held several roles of increasing responsibility within the company’s operations team including vice president of strategic business initiatives and vice president of operations.
SUZANNE R. GRIFFIN :
Suzanne Griffin joined Butterball, LLC in 2012 and currently serves as senior vice president, general counsel and chief risk officer. Making use of a broad legal background in agriculture, industry and finance, she provides legal advice to senior management and works closely with the business lines on business and commercial issues. She is also responsible for environmental and workplace safety management as well as providing oversight for other risk related issues.
Prior to joining Butterball, Griffin was a partner at Poyner Spruill, LLP. Griffin also spent three years as Deputy General Counsel at the US bank subsidiary of Royal Bank of Canada and has significant agriculture law experience from her eight years in leadership roles with Continental Grain Company. Griffin has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois, College of Agriculture and a Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern University School of Law.
BARRY GUM :
Barry Gum serves as chief financial officer for Butterball, LLC. Gum is responsible for all treasury, accounting and IT functions. Gum earned a Business Administration- Accounting degree from the University of Kansas. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was a senior auditor. He came to Butterball after 22 years at our partial owner, Seaboard Corporation, where he worked in various financial leadership roles both at Seaboard Farms- Poultry Division and corporate.
AL JANSEN :
Al Jansen, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Butterball, LLC, is responsible for sales in the food service, retail, commodity and export channels as well as product research and development, customer service, and integrated business strategy.
A graduate from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and an MBA from the University of Baltimore, Jansen brings more than 20 years of experience in the food industry. Prior to his position at Butterball, Jansen spent 18 years at Perdue Farms in a variety of leadership positions including vice president of sales club and mass merchandisers as well as general manager of the turkey business unit. He also held several sales and operations leadership roles at Perdue. Before his successful career at Perdue, Jansen was with Agrimetrics as a senior director of broiler programs.
ALICE JOHNSON, DVM :
Alice Johnson, DVM, serves as senior vice president of food safety, regulatory and animal well-being for Butterball, LLC. Johnson’s role encompasses multiple responsibilities, including the development, implementation and oversight of food safety, quality and animal well-being. In addition, since joining the company in 2006, Johnson has worked alongside federal and state regulatory agencies to implement and manage government regulations within the company.
Before her work with Butterball, Johnson served as president and CEO of the National Turkey Federation. She has also held multiple leadership positions with organizations like National Food Processors Association and the American Meat Institute. Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Pfeiffer College and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Tuskegee Institute.
BILL KLUMP :
Bill Klump serves as chief marketing officer for Butterball, LLC. Klump is responsible for all retail marketing efforts and oversees Insights and Innovation and public relations efforts. Klump serves on several committees for the National Turkey Federation and is past chairman of the board for the International Deli-Dairy-Bakery Association. Prior to his role as CMO, Klump was the senior vice president of corporate marketing.
Klump boasts more than 30 years of consumer packaged goods experience. Notable leadership roles with companies such as Sara Lee, ConAgra Foods and Chiquita Brands-John Morrell International have honed his ability to grow and build consumer brands. Klump also joined Butterball in 2002 while working for ConAgra Foods and transitioned to Butterball, LLC in 2006 when the brand was sold to Smithfield Foods and Maxwell Farms, forming Butterball, LLC.
WALTER PELLETIER :
Walter Pelletier joined Goldsboro Milling Company in 1981. His present responsibilities include managing Butterball’s turkey live production operations. Walter holds the titles of president of Goldsboro Milling Company, co-manager of Maxwell Farms, LLC and co-manager of Maxwell Foods, LLC.
Prior to joining Goldsboro Milling Company, Pelletier worked for Milliken & Company in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He is past chairman of the National Turkey Federation and past president of the North Carolina Poultry Federation. Pelletier currently serves on the board of directors of Mount Olive Pickle Company, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
RON TOMASZEWSKI :
Since joining Butterball, LLC as vice president of human resources in February 2012, Ron Tomaszewski has been responsible for the oversight and management of all people practices within the company, including: recruitment, compensation, benefit design and administration, training, organizational development, compliance and internal communications.
Prior to his work with Butterball, Tomaszewski held HR positions with HSBC Bank USA and Wells Fargo & Company. Tomaszewski earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the State University of New York at Geneseo and an MBA from the University of Rochester (NY) Simon School of Business.
