Position Purpose

The Production Superintendent oversees all aspects of the assigned Processing Departments and ensures that all product is processed according to company procedures, company schedules, and customer specifications.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Implements company standards and programs to achieve a safe and productive work environment.
  • Directs daily production processes to ensure that work is completed according to the instructions given by the company scheduler and/or plant manager in a safe and efficient manner
  • Trains, directs, and supports the Production Supervisors to achieve company goals.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop supervisors to improve overall performance.
  • Communicates and implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Ensure maximum use of department’s available capacity and effective use of labor, tools, and equipment.
  • Review and analyze production reports to ensure safety, quality and production goals are met or exceeded.
  • Monitors to ensure that appropriate production records, safety reports, and HR reports are accurately completed and maintained as necessary. (i.e. production reports, attendance reports, pre-flight check list, staffing reports, training reports)
  • Communicate and coordinate production requirements and performance with maintenance department to maximize line efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Assists the Plant Manager with evaluation, input and implementation of processing methods, equipment and systems.
  • Actively participate in Safety, QA, and human resources initiatives within the facility to include monthly safety departmental meetings, accident investigations, monthly topic training, GMP training and audits, etc. and ensure that these activities are being conducted in the areas for which they are responsible.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong supervisory or higher management level leadership experience

  • Familiarity with applicable government regulations including but not limited to GMPs, HACCP, and USDA regulations

  • Basic computer skills, have excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work successfully with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required

  • Bachelor degree in related field or other post-secondary education preferred.

  • 3-5 years relevant experience in a supervisory or higher-level management role is required.

  • Poultry or meat processing plant experience is preferred.
