Job Summary:

This position will have overall responsibility of supervising, planning, and directing the production of products on various individual production lines/areas to produce products safely and consistently with quality specifications. This position will supervise and coordinate activities of associates to meet production needs and ensure efficient operation of their assigned area of responsibility.  Will be responsible for developing and maintaining positive associate relations.  Will train and develop skills and teamwork of associates under their supervision.  Will ensure that department operates within compliance of HACCP, USDA, and OSHA and ensure associates comply with facility safety rules, and company policies.  Will oversee associate training and development to ensure a quality product is produced at a competitive cost.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain safe and productive work environment which meets facility and process requirements.

  • Ensure maximum use of department’s available capacity and effective use of labor, tools, and equipment.

  • Ensure product is produced according to all product specifications and USDA specifications and according to production schedule.

  • Maintain optimum line speeds, efficient crewing, proficient yields, and have accountability for all variances.

  • Actively participate in safety, QA, and human resources initiatives within the facility to include monthly safety departmental meetings, accident investigations, monthly topic training, GMP training and audits, etc.

  • Complete daily/weekly reporting for department (i.e. production reports, attendance reports, pre-flight check list, staffing reports, training reports)

  • Develop and report key performance indicators for department.

  • Coordinates and approves manning for department to include approval of Kronos time recording.

  • Evaluate and counsel associates regarding job performance, attendance, etc. with the objective of improving overall department performance.

  • Inspect area to ensure that operating procedures are in accord with established QA and USDA regulations and guidelines.

  • Applies and enforces all company policies, programs, rules, and regulations.

  • Provide and coordinate training for all associates utilizing the OJT (on the job) procedures and trainers.

  • Coordinate activities with maintenance to maximize line efficiency and minimize downtime.

  • Attend production meetings as required (i.e. KPI meeting, scheduling meeting)

  • Must be a self starter.

  • Effective in managing a diverse workforce.

  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

  • Knowledgeable of USDA regulations and requirements.
  • Basic math and writing skills.

  • Basic computer skills.

Education & Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; BS degree in Business, Poultry, Animal or Food Science, or related field preferred.
  • Generally requires 1or more years of work experience in a manufacturing environment.
