JOB SUMMARY:This is an entry level, developmental supervisory position available to new college graduates. The role will provide frontline leadership and manage a line or area in a Butterball food processing facility in order to produce our products safely and consistently within quality specifications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Poultry, Animal or Food Science or related field.
- Completion of at least one leadership course as part of their collegiate curriculum
- 2 summer internships or co-op experience or equivalent work experience
- Proficiency in math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Supervisory experience
- Experience in poultry/meat food manufacturing
- Background in agriculture or farming
- Has actively participated or held office in a campus or community organization
- Exposure to lean and or lean Six Sigma practices
- Bilingual English Spanish

Supervising People and Managing Processes
- Leads production teams to achieve short and long-term goals
- Supervises team members and leads team member activities; enables team member growth and improvement through effective goal setting and direction, coaching and feedback and training.
- Ensure effective use of team member resources, tools, supplies and equipment to maximize process efficiency and plant capacity
- Conducts routine scanning of department to identify and solve problems associated with equipment operations or processes and escalating issues as needed

Safety and Compliance
- Accountable for team’s adherence to personal and food safety standards, manufacturing protocols, product specifications and quality guidelines
- Serves as a role model and initiates proactive actions to ensure team’s understanding of and compliance with all company policies and regulatory guidelines (including USDA, OSHA, DOL, EEOC, etc.)
- Conducts routine safety, quality and customer facility audits
- Participates in compliance or post-accident investigations

Continuous Improvement and Plant Engagement
- Works closely with other plant departments to optimize performance
- Identifies opportunities for improvement, understands root cause and helps build solutions to within a team-based work environment
- Participants in department, facility and cross shift meetings

Reporting and Analytics
- Collects, monitors, analyzes and presents statistical data aligned to product or processing activities
- Updates daily/weekly department reports (i.e. production reports, attendance reports, pre-flight check list, staffing reports, training reports)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (prior to joining Butterball):
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, advanced presentation skills
- Ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (gained when joining Butterball):
- Skilled in coaching and team member engagement
- Working knowledge of manufacturing methods, process improvements, problem solving techniques and procedures
- Familiar with operations metrics, such as yields, lbs. /birds per man hours (PMH), line speeds, etc.
- Knowledge of:
- USDA and OSHA regulations
- HACCP (Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points)
- SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- SSOPs (Standard Sanitary Operational Procedures)
Level of Independence: Works with a high degree of supervision through an entry period, thereafter, will operate under moderate direction and moderate level of independence.
