Job Summary

Manage, direct, and implement operational strategies and objectives to ensure the achievement of Plant goals.  Focuses on goals of case fill, cost of sales, safety of the people and product, quality of the product, and human resources management. Manages all manufacturing activities to achieve effective and efficient use of facilities and personnel as well as conformance to schedules and budgets.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the plant operations to produce all products, within USDA, regulatory and company guidelines and maximize yields with minimal costs.

  • Confers with the Supervisors and the Maintenance Manager to develop action plans to ensure equipment availability for scheduled production.

  • Confers with the Plant Manager and corporate associates to plan both short and long term strategies for the plant.

  • Analyze production reports to ensure achievement of quality, financial, and safety goals. Meets with direct reports to formulate action plans to address opportunities and maintain successes.

  • Observes the management talent base for efficient operations; promotes opportunities for management to upgrade skills through training and education.

  • Uses people, processes and materials to seek opportunities for cost reduction projects.

  • Oversees the programs instituted by the Safety Manager to ensure thesafety and health of our associates.

  • Reports to the Plant Manager on a regular basis the successes and opportunities and develops action plans to address the opportunities.

  • Seeks opportunities with Plant Scheduling to best utilize the plants capacity to produce the needed products in a safe and efficient manner

  • Focus on continuous improvement for all processes for sustainable improvement

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of  USDA regulations as well as company policies
  • Understand and implement schedules and understand product flow

  • Understand the safety and health programs and how they are administered

  • Understand basic HR principals and the fair and equal administration of Company Policies

  • Excellent computer and communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Ability to analyze complex information and formulate action plans to appropriately address opportunities

Education & Experience

  • BS Degree in Poultry Processing, Management or related field or equivalent training and experience.
  • Ten years of experience in meat processing.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participates in plant cuttings to ensure that a quality product is being produced.
  • Participate in USDA, VPP, ISO/BRC and QA meetings and implements action plans as needed.
  • Confers with HR on associate issues and coordinates the need for staffing levels.
  • Frequently audits the plant for safe working conditions and procedures, GMP, and overall housekeeping.
  • Confers with contract sanitation to ensure that the plant is cleaned and sanitized and made ready for on time starts.
  • Prepares the reports to corporate officials and ensure the reports properly reflect the results of the plant.
