Position purpose

The Occupational Health Nurse provides a professional health resource to protect, maintain, and improve the overall health status of associates.


  • Perform pre-employment drug screens and physical examinations

  • Review symptom surveys for new associates

  • Evaluates, assesses, and treats job-related associate health issues

  • Maintains all associate medical records and workers compensation records

  • Conducts annual hearing examinations on each associate

  • Coordinates annual health fair

  • Schedules other recurring activities such as blood drives, Hazmat physicals, mammograms, flu clinic, etc

  • Maintains OSHA and Worker’s Compensation data

  • Participate in safety and health related committees and meetings

  • Perform special tasks as designated by Complex Safety Manager

  • Review all related policies and procedures and keep them current as they relate to occupational health

  • Plant inspections and observations

  • Communication and visits with company physicians

  • Flexible to travel and attend training requirements


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Working knowledge and practical use of computer and related software programs such as Microsoft Office

  • LPN certification (minimum) required

  • At least 6 months experience in a relevant area required


  • RN certification

  • Background in OSHA regulations, Worker’s Compensation laws, occupational health, and WC claims programs

  • Prior work experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment

Work Requirements

  • Working conditions include usual office environment with some exposure to plant manufacturing area.

  • Physical demands include frequent seeing (read reports/use computer), hearing (communicate with coworkers), and grasping/feeling (writing, typing, using phone system).Additional physical demands include standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
