This is a remote position. This position will need to reside in the greater Cincinnati, OH area.  

Position purpose

The national account manager supports the planning and execution of sales strategies that maximize sales volume and margin growth for products in the National Account/Contract Management business. This position will also support the development of short-and long-term sales strategies and help define the product mix that will be implemented in the marketplace. In addition, this position manages key customer relationships by growing existing customer business, adding new customer business, and representing the contract management business to internal and external constituencies. The national account manager controls all elements of the sales process from sales presentations, member/client targeting/direction, forecasting to broker relationships, to achieve volume and profit margin goals. 


  • Provides direction for contract management/non-commercial broker teams.
  • Reviews and acts upon weekly sales discovery system (SDS) results.
  • Stays abreast of the meat protein markets via customer, industry, and broker contacts; monitors market trends and reviews industry news to stay informed about customer strategies.
  • Ensures that all sales and all go-to-market activities are integrated and coordinated with other areas of the company, using a planned approach and maintaining open communications with other team members throughout all those areas.
  • Review programs and pricing for competitiveness and to maximize volume and profit goals
  • Develop best-in-class relationships with key constituencies, including customers, brokers, and internal team members.
  • Lead customer sales presentations, business reviews, and data execution.
  • Lead field sales coordination and execution with brokers for contract management/non-commercial business units.
  • Ensure that continuous progress is being made with customers and brokers, and report on that progress, as required.
  • Travel as required (up to 60%)


  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, supply chain management, or other relevant field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • 5 years’ experience in the processed proteins sales industry required, including experience with retail or foodservice value-added products.
  • Knowledge of entire sales cycle, preferably in the food processing industry
  • Ability to interpret and to understand syndicated and insights data.
  • Ability to analyze and to interpret sales performance data to formulate recommendations on pricing, merchandising, and distribution.
  • Proven ability to execute a strategic plan to achieve sales volume and margin growth.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, presentation, decision-making and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate and interact within all levels of the organization to achieve results.
  • Demonstrated sales planning, forecasting and sales execution experience required.
  • Successful history of building relationships with customers, brokers, and vendors.
  • Highly self-motivated and organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
