Job Summary:

The Learning & Development Consultant is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing learning and development solutions in alignment with our talent management needs and strategies.  Building strong, collaborative relationships with Butterball leaders and team members is vital to success in this role.

Essential Functions, Duties, & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct needs assessments for individuals and business units to determine appropriate learning objectives, audience needs, and developmental programs to achieve business impact and meet business objectives
  • Research and design learning and development solutions for classroom and computer-based training; incorporates input from business unit groups and subject matter experts and utilizing adult learning theory and instructional design.
  • Develop content/solutions both internally and in partnership with external vendor partners; manages and maintains strong working relationships with vendor partners. 
  • Define and utilize the most effective learning mix (i.e. instructor led, e-Learning, blended learning, or social learning) for the agreed target audience while applying best practices for effective learning methodology. 
  • Plan, schedule, and communicate training events to coordinate with business units’ schedules and needs
  • Establish internal network, building and maintaining cross-functional relationships to meet learning and development needs; acts as a trusted advisor to internal business partners. 
  • Develop and review measurements, assessments, and evaluations to ensure learning and development efficiency; produce periodic reports outlining learning and development goals and results achieved;
  • Continuously seeks feedback, ideas and suggestions to improve training effectiveness, training policies and new training initiatives. 
  • Support the deployment and ongoing management of our learning management system and eLearning resources to maximize utilization and ensure needed integration with other development initiatives to create a blended learning approach
  • Keeps up-to-date with trends, developments and best practices in the learning and development field, including new technologies and methodologies. 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge and/or experience in Adult Learning Theory, Instructional Design and Blended Learning
  • Ability to conduct assessments and analyze data to make decisions or recommendations.
  • Strong coaching, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks, projects, and priorities
  • Self-driven and committed to providing the highest level of service while remaining aligned with the goals of the organization.
  • Ability to develop strong business networks & partnerships.
  • Ability to communicate and work with senior leaders as well as front-line employees to provide training, communication, coaching, and feedback.
  • Has exceptional attention to detail, follow up, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to research and learn new material, theories, technologies, and approaches to incorporate in the design and facilitation of learning & development solutions.
  • Knowledge of learning technologies (LMS, Course Authoring Tools, etc.) and proficient in Microsoft applications
  • To meet the needs of the business, the ability and willingness to conduct training during the evening and/or on weekends, as needed
  • Occasional travel, locally and overnight
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality

Education & Experience: 

  • BA/BS degree in Organizational Development & Training (or related degree), or equivalent experience in designing, developing and facilitating leadership training in a corporate training environment.
  • Master’s Degree in related field is preferred.
  • Experience managing projects and leading project teams, plus
  • Experience in all aspects of the training process (Assessment, design, development, facilitation, evaluation) and instructor-led training.
  • Experience with developing computer-based training, desired.
