Job Summary:

To manage multiple projects from conception through completion with emphasis on cost, scope and schedule. To research and develop new equipment and processes, which will improve product quality, production efficiencies, and reduce manufactured costs.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Participate with the Engineering Department to support:
  • Production Growth
  • Food Safety Initiatives
  • Facility Safety
  • Quality Assurance
  • Process Equipment and Utility Maintenance
  • Process and Utility Efficiency Improvements
  • Process and Plant Improvements
  • New Product Introductions
  1. Develop and implement methods to improve efficiencies of plant utilities and production processes.
  2. Insure all new equipment and utility installations meet USDA requirements and the company’s strategic plan.
  3. Plans & Designs engineering projects & assembles project team.
  4. Direct the activities of project teams including employees, vendors, & contractors.
  5. Support the Corporate R&D Department.
  6. Perform project management function for assigned projects; insuring project goals, timeframe, and budget are achieved.
  7. Develop equipment specifications, source competitive bids, and develop contracts for new equipment.
  8. Work with other company departments to test and evaluate new equipment and processes.
  9. Lead the development, with the Corporate Purchasing Department, of national contracts for equipment purchases.
  10. Assist with the development and administration of the capital budget.
  11. Support personal development of all Engineering Departments employees.
  12. Ensure best value is received in purchase of materials and labor for all project related work.
  13. Provide Engineering leadership at each plant location.
  14. Ensure each project meets the governmental requirements of OSHA, EPA, BOCA, DEQ, Board of Health, and other federal, state, and local agencies.
  15. Support Vice President, Engineering in any assigned projects and accomplishment of Company goals.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have vast experience in project management, including cost control, contractor and vendor evaluation and selection, and schedule development and adherence.
  • Must be able to anticipate potential problems and resolve before cost and schedule are impacted.

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience managing projects with an emphasis on cost reduction
