Position Purpose

Provide guidance to plant leadership team on employee relations issues that contribute to satisfactory productivity, motivation, and morale in the workplace. These employee relations issues include but are not limited to performance management and discipline, complaint and incident investigation, and union avoidance.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Investigate, document, and monitor associate complaints as well as any allegations of violations of company policies and employment laws. Monitor compliance and takes action as appropriate.

  • Advise plant leadership team on performance management issues that arise in the workforce, including but not limited to disciplinary actions and terminations.

  • Provide reports on staffing, turnover, absenteeism, associate demographics, or other reports required by the HR Manager and/or plant leadership.

  • Administer the plant benefits program to include providing information to new hires, current associates, assisting with plan enrollments/changes, and data entry.

  • Recruiting duties to include interviewing, reviewing new hire paperwork, and conducting orientation.

  • Represent the company in unemployment adjudications and appeals.

  • Coordinate and facilitate roundtables, focus groups, and other meetings to gauge the pulse of the workforce to detect indicators of disengagement, dissatisfaction, and union activity.

  • Maintain a regular presence on the production floor to provide a face for HR in the workplace.

  • Liaise regularly with leadership team to address their issues and concerns and to focus HR support where needed.

  • Advise the HR Manager of issues of importance and make recommendations for change or improvement as needed.

  • Other tasks as assigned by HR Manager.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • At least two (2) years of experience performing similar job duties in a Human Resource role, preferably in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to be accurate, efficient, and productive under conditions that involve frequent interruptions and distractions

Preferences

  • Previous experience working with an enterprise database (e.g., SAP, ADP, PeopleSoft)

  • English/Spanish bilingual (speak, read, and write) is strongly preferred
