Job Description

Job Summary – The Assistant farm lead will assist the farm manager in all aspects of ensuring the production goals of the farm are met. Including supervise and coordinates activities of worker engaged in raising turkeys, collecting eggs and maintain equipment and facilities on breeder farm.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Consult with service technician to ascertain production requirements and to discuss condition of equipment and status of supplies.
  • Maintain the farm grounds and building.
  • Assigns workers to duties such as feeding and vaccinating turkeys, and cleaning and disnfecting turkeys house.
  • Directs  maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment of facilities and equipment such as turkey houses, automatic feeders, waters.
  • Inspects quality of litter, add shaving, till, rake report problems and collect samples for lab analysis.
  • Weighing Turkeys and Recording Weights.
  • Participates in work activities to expedite work load.
  • Adjusts light program as required and monitors ventilation of houses on the farms.
  • Administers medications, and vaccines throught the water system.
  • Draws blood for government inspection and in accordance to company protcol.
  • Insure biosecurity measures are complied with and proceduress are strictly enforced;
  •  Accountable for implementing a rodent and vector control program on the farm;
  • Ensure feed consumption and turkey mortailty reports maintained.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic Reading & Math
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Mechanical skills
  • Use of Tractor


  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Demands

Ability to stand for long periods of time, bend and stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs. Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions including severe heat and/or cold temperatures.

Work Environment

Farm setting which involves foul smells, substantial dust circulation, and loud environment, in often inclement weather.
