Job Description

Position Purpose

The Accounting Analyst performs weekly and monthly general accounting duties to support the live operations (feed mills, hatcheries, breeders, growers, etc.) for the assigned locations, as well as performing month-end closing process and routine analysis, measurement, and reporting.  This position will share Functions, Duties and Responsibilities listed below with another Accounting Analyst.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages the data collection and preparation of weekly and monthly Live Operations Accounting Reports including: Shrink Report, Cost Per Ton Reports, Feed Prices on Live Performance Report, Weekly Manufacturing Cost Report and Management Reports.

  • Responsible for all month-end SAP and Mtech entries, reconciliations, reporting, and Closing process for Butterball Breeders and Hatcheries.

  • Month-end reconciliation responsibilities include: M-Tech to SAP for Ingredients and Flock Charges; Breeder SAP to M-Tech Interface; assisting with feed mill accruals; updating feed mill spreadsheet and preparing and keying JE; and, closing of all related cost centers.

  • Responsible for inventory movements and financial transactions associated with turkey breeder replacements, breeder production flocks, egg and hatchery inventory.

  • Reconcile the weekly feed invoice. Researches and responds to questions regarding vendor invoices.

  • Assit BBNC LOPs Management in creating Capital Expenditure Requests (CER) including possible financial impact. Tracking project expenditures and closing of CER’s.

  • Responsible for the budget process for Breeders and Hatcheries and assisting with Meatbird budgeting.

  • Ensures proper documentation is prepared and maintained in compliance with Butterball’s accounting procedures, as well as internal and external audit requirements.

  • Develops new/additional reporting tools as required to support Live Operations.

  • Make recommendations regarding process/procedure changes to improve the performance of the accounting team and improve customer service.

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office applications, including advanced Excel skills (ex. sumifs, pivot tables, vlookups, etc.)

  • Customer service focused with demonstrated ability to foster positive working relationships with both internal and external customers and vendors.

  • Excellent time management skills coupled with the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.

  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of SAP preferred; M-Tech experience a plus.

  • Will require some travel between NC locations.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Business or equivalent strongly preferred but will consider Associates Degree with exceptional experience and skill set.

  • Three plus years of Accounting Experience with emphasis on cost, in a manufacturing setting preferred.
