Job Summary:
The First Processing Superintendent oversees all aspects of the First Processing Department (Hang/Pick/Kill, Evisceration, and Truck Wash) and ensures that all product is processed according to company procedures, company schedules, and customer specifications. The position ensures that company core values such as Safety, Food Safety, and Cost Reduction projects are accomplished. In addition, the Superintendent controls all aspects of labor, quality expectations, and management of machine operations.
Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Familiarity with applicable government regulations including but not limited to GMPs, HACCP, and USDA regulations; Knowledge of BRC practices and standards through company and departmental training and understanding; Have basic computer skills, have excellent verbal and written communication skills; Strong leadership skills; Ability to work successfully with cross-functional teams. Knowledge of involving and leading supervisors and associates in a team-based manner.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in industry or department related field is preferred. 3-5 years relevant experience in a supervisory or higher-level management role is required. Poultry or meat processing plant experience is preferred.
Additional Responsibilities:
The 1st Processing Superintendent assists the Operations Manager with evaluation and input regarding processing methods and equipment. The 1st Processing Superintendent also assists in the implementation of new processing methods, systems, and equipment. Maintains and follows the humane policy as prescribed, and holds his team fully accountable in following this process.
