JOB SUMMARY:

Manage entire day to day operations for Engineering and Maintenance for all internal equipment and external support equipment to include Wastewater & Farm systems. This position is responsible for all Capital projects related to the entire facility, tracking all spend, writing of Capital projects, submittal of projects and closure within budget requirements. Directs all maintenance functions through the managers, superintendents, and supervisors with a total staff of 250+ team members. Track all daily and weekly spending utilizing Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and the Butterball Operating Business Solutions (BOSS) systems. Weekly manage and execute the 2,500+ preventive maintenance documents. Responsible for the facility 24/7/365.  Maintains the highest level of safety programs to support the Mt. Olive facility in maintaining as a NC Star Site facility with OSHA. Recommend measures to improve the production methods, equipment performance and quality of products produced.  Analyze, resolve, and prepare timelines with process partners in the facility to address opportunities that arise and capital projects. Maintain the Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and standards related to ammonia refrigeration systems, as well as maintain all state regulated permits and licenses required to operate the facility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10-12 years in a management role of a large facility, prefer facility populations over 2500+
  • 10-12 years minimum leading and developing of managers or people leaders
  • In depth knowledge on the Principles of Maintenance Management, Preventive Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: or related on the job experience
  • Background in Mechanical and Electrical Integrity
  • Technical Experience in Refrigeration, Utilities, Wastewater Treatment and Farm Management

  • Development of the current Maintenance program to operate at World Class Standards
  • Develop the Strategies for the next 3 to 5 years within the Facility for Maintenance
  • Support and provide input to the Operation groups for overall process improvements

  • Ability to identify required capabilities and develop teams
  • Understanding current opportunities within the process, mechanically, operationally and align development opportunities for staff
  • Develop succession plan within the Maintenance organization, planning 5+ years, based on skill sets
  • Set the direction for the Maintenance staff to successfully work cross functionally with operational leaders.

Knowledge Capital Improvement

  • Ability to identify potential equipment improvements that will reduce cost to produce
  • Ability to identify high risk opportunities within the facility that could cause significant business disruptions
  • Ability to write, submit, track, and implement future capital projects and close within budget

Maintenance System knowledge

  • Knowledge of SAP CMMS
  • Ability to control parts inventories by working with purchasing to continually analyze and update min/max levels while maintaining facility
  • Understand and comply with all state and federal regulations, OSHA, EPA, BRC (Food Safety Audits), and NC State Star Site

Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Ability to build solid and collaborative foundation with all support groups: QA, HR, Safety, Health Services, Accounting
  • Ability to quickly learn the Butterball BOSS, KPI and data tracking systems

Other relevant expectations:

  • This position is one of 5 Senior Leadership roles reporting to the Complex General Manger.  Must be able to work cross functionally and work on projects not directly within their area of responsibility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge – In depth experience in leading a Maintenance Department in a large manufacturing facility.  Turkey/ Poultry, meat industry or food industry preferred.
  • Skill – Computer literate with proficiency in use of Excel, Word, and Power Point.  Knowledge of CAD would be extremely beneficial.
  • Ability – Able to work cross-functionally and drive consensus, strong leadership and team building skills, ability to teach and transfer knowledge to others and work with a positive attitude

Level of Independence: Operates with minimal supervision, comfortable making decisions and can deal with multi-tasking in a very fast pace environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting; close vision and ability to adjust focus.
