Job Description

Monitor product attributes to assure product quality is at targeted levels.  Assure food safety, regulatory and company compliance.  Assure compliance with all established safety procedures

Support organizational/cultural change through facilitative leadership.

Essential Functions:

  • Reports directly to Quality Assurance Leader.

  • Verify HACCP CCP’s.

  • Work closely with UDSA

  • Assists with customer facility audits.

  • Assists with customer product audits.

  • Troubleshoots plant sanitation issues.

  • Troubleshoots plant quality problems.

  • Assists plant in development of process control procedures/monitoring.

  • Assists with plant process improvement projects.

  • Assists with product improvement projects.

  • Must support the Jonesboro Mission Statement and Operating Principles.

  • Consistent, regular attendance at work for assigned work schedule

  • Other duties as assigned

    Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspection and product evaluations including physical, chemical and microbiological testing.This includes materials in process as well as finished product.

  • Promote and train on GMP’s and Food Safety

  • Daily SOP Audits

  • Daily Metal Detector checks

  • Daily sanitizer checks

  • Daily CCP Monitoring and verifications

  • Daily samples for shelf life evaluations

  • Monitor facility for condensation

  • Perform environmental swabs

  • Monitor contractor and construction projects.

    Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

    Familiar with GMP’s, Food Safety, HACCP, USDA and SSOP’s. .   This person must have the ability to write reports and procedure manuals.  They must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.  They need the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry as necessary to perform the duties required.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  And the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Education and Experience

    Bachelors Degree in Food Science or Meat Science preferred with 5-6 years experience in the meat industry in areas of quality assurance, microbiology or operations.  HACCP certified, knowledge of SPC techniques and USDA regulations and labeling requirements.
