Job Description

This position will have the responsibility of developing, planning, coordinating, and monitoring performance of weekly and daily production schedules for the Further Processing department at Butterball’s flagship plant in Mount Olive, NC.     

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop schedules that demonstrate process flow of products through RTC and RTE
  • Coordinate and manage raw material meat requirements to support schedules with the Raw Material Scheduling team
  • Create and manage daily production orders according to schedule and process flow
  • Monitor daily and weekly performance to pre-determined schedules according to order and forecast demand
  • Ensure material availability for supplies and ingredients necessary to execute schedules
  • Manage schedules and capacity to predetermined throughputs for blending, injection, fabrication, fry, impinge, slice, and pack 
  • Maintain product inventories to meet customer needs and expectations
  • Communicate daily with production management, procurement, planning, customer service, distribution, sales, and corporate leadership regarding schedule attainment, order fill rate, and inventory versus shipments
  • Analyze inventory trends and production processes to identify areas of opportunities and recommend process improvements
  • Collaboratively partner with plant operations and support departments for continuous improvement of processes and procedures

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of the food manufacturing industry, including an understanding of the operational model through 2nd Processing, Further Processing, and Distribution
  • Strong analytical, data interpretation, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer application skills including MS Office with advanced Excel and Power Query application experience; SAP, AS400, and CAT^2 experience is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask is critical
  • Ability to interact well at all levels within an organization
  • Effective when working independently and in cross functional teams
  • Continuous improvement mindset and ability to lead change
  • Project management knowledge and ability to present data to various levels within the organization
  • Knowledgeable in Lean and Six Sigma principles

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, operations management, or related field preferred
  • 3 or more years of work experience in Production Scheduling, Production Accounting, Inventory Management, or Food Manufacturing is preferred
