Job Summary: 

This position is responsible for supporting the value stream staff by driving operational excellence through a lean transformation and implementing a daily management operating system Butterball Operating System Solution (BOSS). This position implements and supports actions that drive improvements that may include but not limited safety, quality, yields, cycle time, efficiencies, margin improvements and customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive OpEx culture change through coaching employees and leaders to drive Lean behaviors and follow the principles and practices of OpEx.
  • Directs and supports all activities needed to incorporate Lean transformation and BOSS into the OpEx culture and across the value stream.
  • Executes against long- and short-term objectives to support the OpEx team’s vision and goals.
  • Provides necessary training specific to Lean transformation tools and methodology.
  • Coordinates, leads and executes improvement projects and initiatives in order to achieve business needs and objectives.
  • Executes and supports key activities as part of Lean transformation and BOSS implementation to include the following: pre-shift, shift cross-over and first hour of attainment meetings; start-up scorecard; productivity data capture; standard work and leader standard work; visual boards; action item registers; and, weekly operational excellence reviews.
  • Utilizes value stream mapping techniques to design optimal information, material, and production flow methods.
  • Participates in Gemba walks and coaches employees in the areas of: continuous improvement; waste reduction and yield improvements; problem solving; root cause analysis; flow; and, follow-up on action plans.
  • Conducts cycle time analyses, time studies, line balance improvements, workplace analysis and improvement.
  • Creates and implements standard work, coaching line leaders to do the same.
  • Implements and coaches the use of control boards and other visual management tools.
  • Facilitates problem solving in operations to address issues affecting yields, through-put and efficiencies.
  • Drives 5S process improvements across the operations.
  • Works with necessary site personnel to identify, address, and eliminate process related obstacles.

Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering field required (Industrial Engineering / Supply Chain Management Degree Preferred).
  • 5-7 years’ experience in leading projects in continuous improvement/Lean/six sigma efforts and enabling efficiency, effectiveness and tangible financial benefit in operationally complex manufacturing environment.
  • Customer centric attitude is mandatory.
  • Proven success in delivering results and identifying operational opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong consultative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management and/or change management experience required and PMP certification is a plus. Lean Six Sigma Certification(s), black belt certification required; master black belt, preferred.
