Position Purpose
Monitors the management, health status, performance, feed and flock records to aid in producing quality products.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
- Maintains a positive company/grower relationship to motivate the grower to attain maximum results.
- Assumes responsibility for the health and performance of contract turkeys
- Records daily and weekly mortalities
- Records and verifies feed deliveries to contract facilities
- Instruct contract growers on best management practices
- Implements sanitation and disease prevention programs
- Performs routine necropsy on mortalities to monitor disease status of flock.
- Prescribes medication in appropriate dosage
- Inspects contract facilities to ensure their compliance with contractual agreement.
- Transports turkeys to Diagnostic Laboratory for disease monitoring and testing
- Completes and checks final flock file which includes feed conversion rates and medication cost.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
- Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four year accredited college or university with an emphasis of studies in Animal or Poultry Science; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
- Physical Demands
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Load and unload pickup with farm supplies and climb ladders.
- Must be able change into and out of coveralls and boots.

- Outdoors hot/cold extremes.
- Indoors poultry houses with dust, odors, feathers.
