Job Summary: 

Leads the human resources team for the assigned location and serves as a business partner providing both consultative and operational support to business leaders and team members on all human resources-related matters.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage HR function at the assigned location and provide oversight and direction to the HR team, as well as coaching, mentoring and developing team members.
  • Develop and implement data-driven HR solutions in partnership with operations leaders that drive performance improvement and support the short- and long-term business objectives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to management regarding talent and performance management, employee and labor relations, human resources policies and procedures, and employee benefit programs and compensation.
  • Implement proactive employee relations strategies to equip leaders and individuals with the tools and techniques to align their performance with the goals and expectations of our culture, talent philosophies, policies, practices, and programs.
  • Collaborates with business partners in human resources to help drive organizational initiatives at the plant level.
  • Administration of human resource planning, performance assessment and other evaluation programs within assigned responsibilities.
  • Ensures consistency in execution of human resources policies, programs and procedures and communicates issues to the Director of Human Resources and participates in policy/procedure review/implementation where appropriate.
  • Assists in the development and administration of Affirmative Action Plans, Equal Employment programs and other governmental rules and regulations pertaining to associate relations.
  • Investigates and acts on unemployment compensation claims and prepares position statements for DOL and EEOC charges.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory compliance agencies as it relates to labor, wage and hour and employment laws. 
  • Ensures facility is 100% compliant with Employment Eligibility Verification and I-9 Regulation Laws.
  • Oversee and manage the hourly and exempt level recruitment process.
  • Coaches and counsels’ managers and team members about human resources issues.
  • Conduct investigations, review manager recommendations and submittals, and engage in proactive discussions with managers.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Characteristics:

  • Detailed knowledge of the development and execution of HR policies and procedures, as well as local, state and federal employment laws. 
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships and develop data-driven strategic solutions to business needs.
  • Ability to provide leadership while partnering with facility management, proactively addressing issues, questions and concerns, responding with urgency to address human resources needs. 
  • Strong oral/written communication and presentation skills to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Exercise judgment and tact in the application of rules, regulations, policies and procedures in dealing with others in difficult or sensitive situations.
  • Spanish-English bilingual preferred.

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years Human Resources management experience required, experience in protein manufacturing a plus.
  • Previous experience in human resources in a multi-shift, manufacturing environment with experience in high volume, non-exempt staffing for hourly associates preferred.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
