Job Description


The training specialist will assist with all aspects of onboarding for newly-hired team members. Trainers will facilitate a consistent knowledge transfer with new team members providing, information, guidance and support.   The training specialist will conduct classroom as well as On-The-Job Training to ensure our new team members acquire the skills, knowledge, and behaviors to become productive members of our team.   Specifically, trainers will review JSAs/OJTs with new team members instructing them on how to perform production job tasks in a safe and efficient manner. The trainer will monitor Injury prevention aspects of the facility Onboarding program as well as particpate in our Onboarding engagement process.  The Training Specialist will work closely with HR and Operations to help our new team members adjust to their new work environment. 


  • High school diploma or GED
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or data entry (Microsoft Forms, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to provide guidance to team members at all levels, from hourly to management


  • Previous experience in classroom training
  • Previous experience with On-The-Job training
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English



Training Support

  • Train new team members on the correct techniques required to perform their assigned job task, including review of our OJT (On-the Job) training documents as well as the Job Safety Analysis for each assigned job task
  • Follow established Job instruction training methods and provide translation as needed.
  • Monitor new team members’ progress regarding their job performance.  Keep Human Resources, team leads, and departmental supervisor informed of any performance or training issues that affect the new team members’ overall job performance
  • Work with departmental management staff to ensure new team members can perform their job task correctly and safely as well as provide support for other production line team members needing refresher training.
  • Administer weekly Onboarding Check-In questions for new team members.


Documentation and Communications Support

  • Document new team members’ job performance progress and provide input on job performance status
  • Coordinate with departmental supervisors regarding the placement of newly-hired team members


Safety Support

  • Ensure new team member understands the correct usage of work tools, personal protective equipment (PPE), and Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Work with new team members in Onboarding Injury Prevention, which includes the new team member Ramp In work schedule, strengthening and stretching exercises, Start-up Soreness Education, Emergency Procedures

Other Duties as assigned and the following:

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Operations and/or Human Resources


  • Ability to learn and to perform all jobs within a specific department to standard
  • Ability to work independently and to be self-motivated in performing job tasks
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to be a role model for good work behaviors and attendance for all team members
  • Ability to provide guidance for new team members regarding the facility Safety and Food Safety programs
  • Strong working knowledge of policies, procedures and rules of the plant and company
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential employee information

Level of Independence: Operates with moderate direction and once acclimated to work scope, higher degree of independence.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  The incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous walking, talking and repetitive motions while training production workers.
