Job Description

Job Summary – Directs and coordinates efficient activities of the Breeder Division in planning and producing turkeys to the highest quality standards possible by performing duties personally or through subordinate managers.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop long and short goals for turkey egg production.
  • Analyze cost and production budget variance, weekly, monthly, and annually.
  • Assure a positive well trained management team of subordinates to manage field production, live haul, facility preparation and other departments including the shop and warehouse.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of subordinate supervisors and employees within various departments within the Breeder Division.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of production management program.
  • Reports capital needs, personnel status, grower status, monthly statements and other pertinent information.
  • Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the corporate policies and procedures.
  • Maintains and administers grower contracts.
  • Coordinates the ordering, delivering, billing and payment of Feed.
  • Prepares and maintains annual budget.
  • Responsible for the daily activities of the office.
  • Responsible for the compliance of all federal, state and local laws and any regulations of various government agencies to include the USDA, OSHA and others.
  • Farm visits to observe turkeys, farm activities and personnel interaction.
  • Provides training to Servicepeople and other managers to better their job performance.
  • Coordinates operations between farms and the hatchery by working with other members of management in multiple locations.
  • Reviews production results against standards.
  • Assessment of breeder egg stock requirements and turkey housing requirements.
  • Attend all required meetings on a local and corporate level as well as industry associations.
  • Conduct employee evaluations.
  • Monitor and report health status of turkey flocks.
  • Create and maintain long and short term schedules for turkey flocks.
  • Review all invoices on a weekly basis to ensure accuracy and budget compliance.
  • Oversees all warehouse purchasing.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the turkey life cycle and growing challenges.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with oral and written skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Mechanical knowledge and repair understanding.
  • Basic computer skills to include MS Word, MS Excel, and other various software programs.

Educat  Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a college or university with an emphasis on studies in Poultry Science or related field; three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License required.
