Job Summary:

The Associate Manager of Integrated Marketing Communications is responsible to support retail business and brand objectives, partnering with the IMC Manager to design communication strategies, developing, executing, and measuring them for all consumer communication initiatives. This includes all forms of advertising, consumer promotion and social media including shopper marketing, eCommerce, and owned asset management like our website and voice skills (e.g., Alexa). He/she supports the IMC Manager’s ownership of all consumer agency relationships and his/her responsibility to coordinate them all to achieve our consumer communication objectives aligned to brand and campaign guidelines within our budget. He/she will have a deep understanding of our target consumers’ needs and mindset with as clear an understanding of the needs of the retail sales team and the ever-evolving retail customer landscape. He/she is instrumental in supporting the development of our brand strategies and is responsible with the IMC Manager and Sr. Director to measurably connect our brand equity to our evolving consumer to improve awareness, salience, preference, and loyalty.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage all projects and communication flow between Butterball internal stakeholders and our agency partners for all forms of communications (advertising, social media, web, shopper, PR exclusive of crisis)
  • Oversees and manages corporate sponsorship relationships
  • Support and oversee development and implementation of all consumers creative
  • Partner with the IMC Manager to serve as the brand steward ensuring all consumer communications and promotional items are consistent with positioning and that all corporate priorities and guardrails are met across all Butterball facilities
  • Manage relationships with all consumer communication stakeholders (IMC Manager, brand management, innovation, insights, sales), as well as day-to-day relationships with agencies to oversee execution of tactical plans
  • Support new product launches ensuring consistency with master brand strategies and effective trade and consumer connection
  • Guide eCommerce efforts to position Butterball as a leader in this emerging retail space, serving as the internal clearinghouse for up-to-date product and retail distribution information
  • Maintain the retail marketing budget including the balancing and allocating of funds based on annual operating plan and business needs

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Strategic & critical thinking . The Associate Manager of IMC will have strategic thinking skills to add value to communication programs, so they are better designed to align with corporate growth strategies and Butterball’s brand equities.
  2. Agency key contact . He/she will have experience directing consumer agencies across the consumer communication spectrum. Direct experience with all forms of paid, owned and earned are preferred. He/she should be experienced in evaluating and advocating consumer program alternatives. His/her ability to build smooth and high achievement collaboration across agencies to achieve our objectives is critical.
  3. Presentation skills . He/she will have experience building professional presentations. He/she will present directly to Butterball Marketing leadership. Strong PowerPoint skills are required.
  4. Consumer insight . He/she will have experience working closely with marketing insights to build a superior understanding of a target consumer. He/she will have the ability to draw insightful conclusions from research and to translate learnings into successful communication initiatives.
  5. Budget management . He/she will have the competency to manage the consumer budget to wisely invest the funds, maximizing returns. The IMC Manager has responsibility for the entire retail marketing budget, this associate is responsible for its flawless administration with vendors, with department leaders, and internal finance/accounting parties
  6. Influence and advocacy . He/she will advocate communication and brand initiatives through the organization, achieving buy-in necessary across communication stakeholders.
  7. Teamwork and project leadership . He/she will have experience with project management, cross-agency, and cross-functional leadership. Proven effectiveness in building critical internal and external relationships and highly effective teams.
  8. Creative design . He/she will have experience building and evaluating briefs, creative concepts and executions based on creativity, strategic alignment, and consumer impact.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA or equivalent preferred
  • 2+ years leading integrated marketing communications for a branded consumer packaged goods company
  • Experience with eCommerce efforts
