Job Summary:

The Associate Brand Manager is responsible for the development and execution of the core business strategies of the retail Deli business. Specific responsibilities include defining and refining our product offering, identifying sales opportunities for branded and store brand offerings, supporting the development of fact-based selling stories using secondary and custom research as well as syndicated data, and the development of promotional programs for key deli accounts. This role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional partners, strong business analysis skills and ability to lead multiple project teams concurrently. This role reports to the Sr. Brand Manager Seasonal and Deli.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop annual marketing plans, ensuring that it aligns with overall brand strategy, contributes to the corporate objectives to maximize profitability, and grow our brands.
  • Lead and collaborate with R&D and other cross functional teams on the development of line extensions and continuous improvement of current items.
  • Support branding efforts such that all consumer and trade communications reinforce the brand’s positioning.
  • Develop marketing plans for key accounts to drive trial and awareness.
  • Foster relationship with business management and sales by:
    • Preparing effective sales presentations.
    • Attending sales calls.
    • Enabling open dialog to enhance problem solving.
  • Evaluate syndicated data monthly to report trends, understand implications against strategies.
  • Evaluate marketing plan effectiveness: program tracking, sales impact and next-step action plans.
  • Manage packaging development process for product offerings, ensure all branded deli products are designed to brand standard and consistently live up to the brand.
  • Manage A&P budget.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Strategic & critical thinking . He/she will have strategic thinking skills to drive initiatives that align with corporate growth strategies and Butterball’s brand equities. He/she must be able to synthesize many separate pieces of information to draw conclusions relevant to his/her categories and overall brand initiatives, making recommendations that drive new projects through the organization
  2. Financial acumen & analytics . He/she will have familiarity with P&L analysis and management. He/she must also have the ability to analyze syndicated data (experience with IRI, preferred) to draw conclusions and make recommendations. Strong Excel skills are required
  3. Presentation skills . He/she will have experience building professional presentations. He/she will attend sales calls and present directly to Butterball leadership and ownership. Strong PowerPoint skills are required
  4. Consumer research . He/she will have familiarity with commonly used consumer research methodologies. He/she will have the ability to draw insightful conclusions from research and to translate learnings into successful new initiatives .
  5. Budget management . He/she will have the competency to manage category budgets to wisely invest the funds, maximizing returns .
  6. Influence and advocacy . He/she will support in advocating new initiatives through the organization, achieving buy-in necessary to get full organizational support both inside and outside of the organization .
  7. Strong project coordination abilities . He/she will be capable of prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously, under tight time constraints and within budget parameters .
  8. Travel .  Ability to travel overnight up to 10 per cent of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Relevant undergraduate degree required (marketing, media communications, business).          MBA preferred.
  • 2-4 years of brand management experience required.
